Allyl Chloride is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. It has a molecular weight of approximately 76.53 gm per mole. The compound consists of an allyl group (C3H5) & a chlorine atom (Cl) attached to one of the carbon atoms in the allyl group. It is produced by the reaction of allyl alcohol with hydrochloric acid or by the reaction of propylene with chlorine gas.
